McCain distances himself from Bush and apologizes

John McCain was not as smooth as Barack Obama or Sarah Palin in the deliverance of his message, but his message may have had the most substance of any in recent memory. McCain apologized for the Republican Party's misuse of the trust of the people. He spoke of bipartisanship. He threw few jabs at Obama and Biden, instead complimenting them and offering more of an olive branch. McCain gave a personal description of his time in the Hanoi Hilton. Overall he came off very real, very compassionate, very confident, and very good. I thought it went well and to hear Chris Matthews actually suggest that he thought it would boost McCain to the top of the polls on Monday was interesting. This MAVERICK may have a shot here. He may be just what the doctor ordered.
